Utica Tools external circlip pliers

I found this little beauty at a yard sale.  I'd never seen such pliers with a thumbscrew for controlling how wide the jaws would open.  Clever idea, as you can damage circlips by opening them too much.

Once made in Utica, New York.  The company was started in 1895. See the alloy artifacts page for more history.  The name is now part of the Apex Tool Group, where the brand is applied to torque-limiting screwdrivers and click wrenches.

pliers with thumbscrew! Never seen one. I got Circlip pliers from bearing boys. I did not find one with screw.
