Streamlined DKW

Vic Willowby; Classic Motorcycles, Hamlyn Publishing, 1975
Streamlining shrouds cover various parts of this supercharged DKW two stroke (even rider Walfried Winkler's head) in a speed-record attempt on the Frankfurt Autobahn in October 1937. The use of megaphone exhausts made these motorcycles unbelievably loud.

By night, mild-mannered Walfried Winkler. By day, DKW Man! Traffic violators, beware!
