HMCS Skeena

Along with HMCS Saguenay, the HMCS Skeena was one of the first vessels intended specifically for the Canadian Navy. She was built in England by the John Thornycroft company at Southhampton and was commissioned on June 10 1931. She spent WW2 mostly on Atlantic convoy escort duty but took part in the Normandy invasion. On Oct 24, 1944 while on anti-submarine patrol, she was driven ashore near Reykjavik, Iceland during a storm and destroyed. She was later scrapped. More on the Skeena here.
