Osborne Stove

Back in the day, not everything had to come with a big price tag from the Mountain Equipment Co-op.

This DYI camp stove was featured in Road Rider back in 1988. Designed by Frank Osborne to be flat, cheap to build, easy to pack on a motorcycle, and burn either charcoal or small sticks.  You can start with various materials, but he made his from a couple of three-pound coffee cans.

I've uploaded the 3-page article on it here.

Frank is my dad. He camped with this design for many years. He started riding motorcycles back in the 1940's. He was a minimalist camper and gave credit for this design to my mom. He passed away in 2017 but there are still many of these in use today. Cheers, Jon Osborne
